WebP is an image format Google made for the web. Files are small, so many sites use it, but older programs, some image viewers and some messaging apps cannot open it. JPG opens everywhere.
Should I pick JPG or PNG?
JPG for photos. PNG for logos and stickers with a transparent background. Converting to JPG turns transparent areas white.
Will the quality drop?
Most WebP files are already lossy, so the result cannot be better than the original. At JPG quality 90 or above the difference is hard to see.
Do my files get uploaded anywhere?
