What to do next
How it works
Pick your HEIC files and click Convert. The first run takes a few seconds to download the decoder, after that it is instant. Several photos can be saved together as a ZIP.
Orientation and colors are preserved. Choose JPG for opening on a PC or sending by email, and PNG when you need transparency.
Things to know
Live Photos keep only the still image, and burst shots keep only the first frame.
Location and camera metadata stored in the HEIC are not carried into the JPG.
Frequently asked questions
What is HEIC?
HEIC is the photo format iPhones have used by default since 2017. Files are about half the size of a JPG at the same quality, but Windows, Android and many older programs cannot open them.
Can I make my iPhone shoot JPG instead?
Yes. Go to Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. Photos you already took can be converted here.
Some HEIC files will not convert.
HEIC files produced by some editing apps, and 10-bit HDR photos, cannot always be decoded. In the iPhone Photos app, use Share and then Save to Files to export a JPG.
Do my files get uploaded anywhere?
No. The only download is the decoder module (about 3MB) the first time. Your photos never leave the browser.
