What to do next
How it works
Upload your JPG files, pick a quality and size, then click Convert. For images going on a blog or website, resizing to 1920px or 1280px on the longest side makes the file much smaller.
A JPG photo converted to WebP is lighter at the same quality, so pages load faster.
Things to know
WebP saving uses a browser feature. Some older versions of Safari cannot save WebP. If that happens you will see a message, and Chrome or Edge will work.
Images that are already heavily compressed may not shrink much. If the result is larger than the original, the result card says so.
Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will the file be?
At the same quality, WebP is usually 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG, though it varies by image. The result card shows the size before and after.
Where does WebP open?
Current Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox, and most blog and store editors. Older programs, some messaging apps and some government sites may reject it, so JPG is the safer choice for official submissions.
Which quality should I pick?
80 is enough for websites and blogs. For product photos where detail matters, use 90.
Do my files get uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs inside this browser and your files never leave your device. Results disappear when you close the page, so use the save button to download them.
