  • Sales tax collected by Etsy is passed to the state, so it is not counted as your revenue, but Etsy charges the processing fee on it.

What to do next

How it works

The calculator adds up the fees Etsy charges a seller with a US bank account: the $0.20 listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee on price plus shipping, and the payment processing fee of 3% plus $0.25 on the full order total including tax. If the sale came from Offsite Ads, it adds 15% or 12% of price plus shipping, up to $100.

Profit is the payout minus your item cost and the postage you pay. The break-even price is the lowest item price where profit reaches zero with the same shipping and costs.

Things to keep in mind

Each listing expires after four months and renews for another $0.20. A listing with several in stock is charged $0.20 again each time one sells.

Etsy Ads, shipping labels and currency conversion fees are separate. Sellers in some countries also pay a regulatory operating fee.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take from a sale?

For a US seller, Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% of the price plus shipping, and 3% plus $0.25 for payment processing. On a $25 item with $5 shipping that is $3.30, about 11% of the order.

What is the Etsy Offsite Ads fee?

If a buyer reaches your shop through an Etsy ad on another site and buys within 30 days, Etsy charges 15% of the order. Shops with $10,000 or more in sales over the past year pay 12%, and the fee is capped at $100 per order.

Can I opt out of Etsy Offsite Ads?

Yes, while your shop has under $10,000 in sales over the last 365 days. Once you pass $10,000, Offsite Ads is required at the 12% rate.

Does Etsy charge the transaction fee on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the item price plus the shipping and gift wrap you charge, so moving cost into shipping does not avoid it.
