Total amount of the sale$50.00 + $8.00 shipping + $4.06 tax = $62.06
Final value fee$62.06 ร— 13.6% = $8.44
Payout$58.00 - $8.84 fees = $49.16
Profit$49.16 - $20.00 cost - $8.00 postage = $21.16

What to do next

How it works

The total amount of the sale is the price plus the shipping the buyer pays plus sales tax. eBay applies the category rate to that total per item. In most categories the rate is 13.6% up to $7,500 and 2.35% on the part above it. A few categories use a single rate that changes once the sale passes a threshold, such as jewelry at 15% up to $5,000 and 9% above.

The per order fee, international fee, insertion fee and any promoted listing fee are added on top. Profit is what eBay pays out minus your item cost and postage.

Things to keep in mind

Store subscribers pay lower final value fees in many categories, and vehicles use separate Motors fees. Both are outside this calculator.

Sellers rated Below Standard pay an extra 6% of the total sale, or 7% after four months in a row. A very high rate of 'item not as described' returns in a category adds 5% on that category's sales, or 6% after four months. Only one of the two applies at a time.

If you refund a buyer, eBay usually credits the final value fee, but the per order fee may not come back.
