|---|---|

| Profit | $29.99 - $9.00 - $7.00 - $1.00 = $12.99 |
What to do next
How it works
The referral fee is a percentage of the total sales price, which includes any shipping or gift wrap you charge. Flat categories use one rate. Some charge a different rate on each part of the price, such as electronics accessories at 15% on the first $100 and 8% above. Others pick one rate for the whole price based on where it falls, such as beauty products at 8% up to $10 and 15% above.
Profit is the sale price minus the referral fee, the FBA fulfillment fee you enter, your product cost and any other per unit costs. Media items add a $1.80 closing fee.
Things to keep in mind
Since April 17, 2026 Amazon has added a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on top of FBA fulfillment fees. Enter the fee with the surcharge included. If your number is the base fee, multiply it by 1.035.
FBA fees change with the size tier and shipping weight of the packaged item, and Amazon adds peak season fees late in the year. Monthly storage fees and inbound placement fees can add a lot for slow sellers.
The break-even price assumes your costs and FBA fee stay the same. A lower price can move a product into a cheaper FBA price band, so recheck the fee if you cut the price a lot.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Amazon referral fee?
Amazon takes a percentage of each sale's total price, including shipping and gift wrap. Most categories are 15% with a $0.30 minimum, while computers and consumer electronics are 8%.
How do Amazon's tiered referral fees work?
Some categories charge by price. Beauty and baby products are 8% at $10 or less and 15% above $10, and clothing runs 5%, 10% or 17% depending on the price.
How much is the Amazon Professional plan?
The Professional plan is $39.99 a month. The Individual plan has no monthly fee but charges $0.99 for each item sold, so Professional costs less once you sell more than 40 items a month.
Why do I have to enter the FBA fee myself?
FBA fees depend on size tier, weight, price band and season, and Amazon updates them every year. Amazon's free Revenue Calculator gives the exact fee for your item.
Is there a fuel surcharge on FBA fees?
Yes. Since April 17, 2026 Amazon charges a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on US and Canada FBA fulfillment fees. It is figured on the fulfillment fee, not the sale price, and Amazon put the US average at about $0.17 per unit. Amazon calls it temporary but has not given an end date. A $4.50 fee becomes about $4.66.
