What to do next
How it works
Pick EPS files and click Convert. The artwork is not rasterized. Lines, text and colors are stored as vectors, so the PDF stays sharp at any zoom.
The page size matches the drawing area written in the EPS (the BoundingBox). Several files are converted to separate PDFs. To join them, use Merge PDF next.
Things to know
Fonts that are not embedded in the EPS are replaced with similar default fonts in the PDF. For a file going to a print shop, convert the text to outlines in the original program before converting.
Frequently asked questions
Does the quality drop when converting to PDF?
No. The lines, text and colors of the EPS go into the PDF as vectors, so it stays sharp when zoomed. Embedded photos are not recompressed at the default setting (Keep original). The page size matches the drawing area written in the EPS, and embedded fonts are carried over.
Can I send a PDF to the print shop instead of EPS?
Most print shops accept PDF these days. Requirements vary, though, so if a shop only takes EPS, send the original EPS. A PDF is also handy for proofing because it opens on any phone or computer.
The text looks different from the original.
If the fonts are not embedded in the EPS, similar default fonts are used instead, and the result card tells you which fonts were substituted. To get the exact look, convert the text to outlines in the original program (Illustrator, for example) and save again. Missing non-Latin text has the same cause.
What program does the conversion?
Ghostscript (AGPL), the open source engine the print industry has used for decades, running unchanged inside your browser. The notice and source location are listed under Open source licenses in the site footer.
Do my files get uploaded to a server?
No. Rendering and converting the EPS all happen inside this browser and your files never leave your device. Results disappear when you close the page, so use the save button to download them.
