What to do next
How it works
The tool reads the text in the PDF and turns each line into a row. Column boundaries are found by collecting the positions where text starts across the whole page and picking the positions that recur most. Right-aligned number columns are also detected by where they end.
Cells that look like numbers are converted to numeric values by default so you can sum them in Excel right away. Thousands separators are kept as a display format.
Things to know
Columns are split by text position, not by ruled lines. Merged cells, vertical text and text that wraps inside a cell can come out misaligned. Check the result in Excel after converting.
Scanned PDFs contain no text and produce an empty sheet. Run PDF OCR first. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked and saved first.
Frequently asked questions
Columns are misaligned or two values land in one cell.
Columns are split by text position rather than by ruled lines. Long text that wraps inside a cell, merged cells and ragged alignment can shift. Setting the page range to just the pages with tables often helps.
Numbers came in as text.
Only cells that look like 1,234, $1,234 or 12.5% are converted. Dates, phone numbers, numbers with leading zeros and values with units stay as text. Turn the toggle off if you do not want any conversion.
No text came out at all.
Scanned PDFs and PDFs made from photos contain no text data. Run the file through PDF OCR first, then convert it here.
Do my files get uploaded anywhere?
No. Reading and conversion both happen inside your browser.
