Many colleges require specific statements on a syllabus: accommodations, academic integrity, Title IX, emergency procedures. Your department or center for teaching usually has the approved wording. Paste it into the policies box as its own line.

Course policies
| Attendance | Lab attendance counts toward participation. Two absences are excused without documentation; email me before class when you can. |
|---|---|
| Late work | Problem sets lose 10% per day late, up to three days. Exams can be made up only with a documented emergency. |
| Academic integrity | You may discuss problem sets with classmates, but the code and write-up you submit must be your own. Cite any source you use, including AI tools. Violations are reported under the university honor code. |
| Accommodations | If you have a documented disability, register with the Office of Accessibility and send me the accommodation letter in the first two weeks so we can set things up. |
How to use it
Fill in the course box at the top, then write the description and the materials. Grading goes in one line per component as component | weight | notes; the weights print as a table with a total, and a note appears under the preview when they do not add up to 100. The weekly schedule works the same way, one line per week.
Policies print as a labeled grid. Type each one as the policy name, a vertical bar, then the text. If your college has required wording for accommodations or academic integrity, paste it in as its own line.
Things to watch
A syllabus is treated as a commitment to students at most schools, so avoid changing grading weights mid-term, and announce any schedule change in writing. If a class meets on a federal holiday or the week of finals, say so in the schedule rather than leaving students to guess.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a 16 week schedule?
Yes. Type 16 lines in the schedule box. The 15 blank rows only appear when the box is empty.
Do I type the percent sign?
Either way. The number is read and the percent sign is added in the table.
Does it work for a high school or training course?
Yes. Put the course name and the period in the course box, your email in the contact box, and use the schedule for units instead of weeks.
Is what I type saved anywhere?
No. Everything stays in your browser and nothing is sent to our server. If you refresh the page it is gone, so print, save a PDF or download the DOCX when you are done.
