How it works
Each letter, number and punctuation mark is swapped for its code from the international table. Detect mode reads your input and switches to decoding when it only contains dots, dashes, spaces and slashes.
Timing follows the standard ratios: a dash is three dots long, the gap inside a letter is one dot, between letters three dots and between words seven.

Frequently asked questions
What is SOS in Morse code?
... --- ... (three dots, three dashes, three dots). It is sent as one continuous signal with no letter gaps, but written letter by letter it is the same dots and dashes.
How do I write spaces between words?
Put a space between letters and a slash between words. HI MOM is .... .. / -- --- --.
Why are some characters left out?
The international table covers letters, numbers and a short list of punctuation. Characters like !, ;, & and $ are not part of ITU-R M.1677-1, so they are skipped.
How fast is 20 words per minute?
Speed is measured with the word PARIS, which is 50 time units long. At 20 wpm one unit (a dot) lasts 60 milliseconds.
