Split an Excel file
Cut a long Excel sheet into several files with a fixed number of rows each, header included. Runs in your browser, free, no sign-up.
Result
Add an Excel file (XLSX) and click Convert. Files with the number of rows you set show up here and can be saved together as a ZIP.
What to do next
How it works
Add an Excel file, set the rows per file (1,000 by default) and click Convert. The file names end in -01, -02 and so on, so they sort in order.
It is handy for systems with an upload limit per file, such as bulk SMS, address books or product listings.
Things to know
Only the first sheet is split and only values are copied. The default is Keep as text, so the original values are not changed. Choose Convert to numbers if you need to calculate with them.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to the header?
The first row is treated as the header and placed at the top of every output file. Turn the toggle off to keep it in the first file only. If the sheet has no header, turn off First row is a header.
Are formatting and formulas kept?
No. Only values are copied. Formulas become their calculated values, dates become year-month-day text, and colors, merged cells and display formats are dropped. If you need the formatting, cut the sheet up in Excel itself.
How many files can it produce?
Up to 200 output files per run. If you need more, raise the rows per file.
Do my files get uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside this browser tab and the files never leave your device. The results disappear when you close the page, so save what you need.
