This shows the first part of each sheet as it prints on Letter paper. The file also has a how-to sheet and formulas, and every column fits one page width when you print from Excel.
How to use it
This is a running log you add to as each job or shift ends. Type the date, the job site, what was done and who was on the crew. Once you enter the crew size and the hours, the labor hours column works out crew times hours and the Totals row at the bottom keeps a running sum.
Use the equipment and materials column for what the job used, and the safety and notes column for anything you want on the record: a near miss, a delay, a delivery that did not show up. The status column is a dropdown with Done, In progress and On hold.
Things to watch
Keep the date column as a real Excel date so filters and sorting work. If you run a construction site and need weather, trades, equipment and deliveries summarized by day, the construction daily report template does that; this journal is for one row per job.

What if there were several jobs in one day?
Use one row per job and repeat the date. Turn on a filter on the header row to see one day at a time.
What are labor hours?
Crew size multiplied by hours worked. Two people for six hours is 12 labor hours. It is handy for comparing jobs or checking a labor invoice.
How is this different from the construction daily report?
The work journal is one row per job or shift. The construction daily report is one row per day with weather, crew by trade, equipment and deliveries pulled together.
Is what I type saved anywhere?
No. Everything stays in your browser and nothing is sent to our server. If you refresh the page it is gone, so print, save a PDF or download the DOCX when you are done.
