Two weeks is a courtesy, not a law
Most US jobs are at will, so two weeks notice is a professional courtesy. Your contract or handbook can ask for more, and some employers only pay out unused PTO when you give the notice they ask for. Read yours before you pick the last day.

Dear Taylor Kim:
Please accept this letter as my formal two weeks notice of resignation from my position as Marketing Associate at Acme Inc.. My last day of work will be October 19, 2026.
Thank you for the opportunity to work here. I have appreciated the support of the team and I have learned a great deal in this role.
During the next two weeks I will document my current projects and help train whoever takes over my responsibilities.
Sincerely,

How to use it
Fill in your details, your manager's name and the letter date. The last day is set 14 days out, so a letter dated Monday the 5th gives a last day of Monday the 19th. Pick one handover sentence or none. The letter stays to three short paragraphs: the notice and last day, a thank-you, and the handover.
Hand the signed letter to your manager in person or on a call, then send the same text by email so there is a dated record. Copy HR if your company asks for it.
Things to watch
Do not list complaints in the letter. If you want to give feedback, ask for an exit interview. Keep the tone neutral even if you are leaving on bad terms, because the letter goes in your file and your manager may be a reference later.

Frequently asked questions
Does two weeks mean 14 calendar days or 10 working days?
Fourteen calendar days from the letter date is the usual reading, and that is what the form uses. If your handbook says ten business days, type the last day yourself.
Do I have to say why I am leaving?
No. Most letters do not give a reason. If you add one, keep it to a single neutral sentence, such as accepting another position or relocating.
What if my employer asks me to leave right away?
Some companies walk people out the same day. Your letter still shows you offered two weeks. Whether you are paid for the notice period depends on your state and your employer's policy.
Is what I type saved anywhere?
No. Everything stays in your browser and nothing is sent to our server. If you refresh the page it is gone, so print, save a PDF or download the DOCX when you are done.
