Weekly overtime only
Overtime here is the federal rule: hours over 40 in a workweek at 1.5 times the rate, and the threshold is an input cell. Daily overtime, double time and other state rules are not built in. This is a template, not payroll advice.

This shows the first part of each sheet as it prints on Letter paper. The file also has a how-to sheet and formulas, and every column fits one page width when you print from Excel.
How to use it
Pick the first day of the period, weekly or biweekly, and download. The sheet lists every day with the date and weekday filled in. Type the time in, time out and break minutes for each day and the hours column fills in, including shifts that end after midnight.
Row 2 holds the hourly rate and the overtime threshold in yellow cells. Under the days you get total, regular and overtime hours for each week and the pay at the rate and at 1.5 times the rate, then signature lines for the employee and the manager.
Things to watch
Type times with a colon and AM or PM. 900 on its own is a number, not a time, and the hours will be wrong. Overtime is counted per workweek at 40 hours, the federal rule; a biweekly sheet never adds the two weeks together before the split. States like California also pay daily overtime, which this sheet does not compute.

Frequently asked questions
What if the shift ends after midnight?
Type the real times, for example 10:00 PM in and 6:00 AM out. The formula treats an out time earlier than the in time as the next day. Split anything longer than 24 hours into two rows.
Can I change the overtime threshold?
Yes, it is the yellow cell in row 2. 40 is the federal rule. Only lower it if your state or your policy pays overtime sooner on a weekly basis.
Does it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. The formulas use IF, OR, ROUND, MIN, MAX and SUM, which work the same. Type times the same way.
Is what I type saved anywhere?
No. Everything stays in your browser and nothing is sent to our server. If you refresh the page it is gone, so print, save a PDF or download the DOCX when you are done.
