Your company policy comes first

Approval steps and required fields vary by employer. If your company has its own form, use that one and treat this as a quick way to draft the same information.

How to use it

Fill in the subject, the period the report covers and pick an overall status. The five boxes follow the order most managers read in: a two-line summary, progress against what was planned, results with numbers, open issues, and what comes next. Write one item per line in the progress and results boxes so they stay scannable.

The sign-off boxes at the top right default to Prepared by and Reviewed by. Change the labels to match who signs at your company, or set them to None if the report goes out by email.

Things to watch

Keep it to one page where you can. Move supporting detail to an attachment and leave the body for conclusions, numbers and the decisions you need. The word counts next to each label are suggestions; the preview warns you when a section runs long but nothing stops you from going over.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a status report be?

One page is the norm for a weekly or monthly status report. If you need more, the detail belongs in an attachment and the first page should still stand on its own.

What does the status pick mean?

On track means the plan holds. At risk means a date or budget is in danger and you say why in the issues box. Off track means a plan change is needed. Complete closes the report.

How many sign-off boxes do I need?

Match your company's approval chain. A small team often uses one box for the manager. Larger companies add Reviewed by and Approved by. Pick None if approvals happen by email and you only need the body of the form.

Is what I type saved anywhere?

No. Everything stays in your browser and nothing is sent to our server. If you refresh the page it is gone, so print, save a PDF or download the DOCX when you are done.
