The percentage is a plain ratio

% of target is actual divided by target. For goals where lower is better, such as cost or defects, a number above 100% is a miss, so explain those rows under highlights. The average is a simple average of the rows, not weighted.

1 / 1

How to use it

Type each goal on its own line as "goal | target | actual" and the table works out the percentage of target. You can type units, like $120,000 or 40 orders; they print as typed and only the number is used for the math. The footer shows the simple average across the goals that have a percentage.

Highlights is where the reasons go: what drove a goal over, what caused a miss. Problems and next month's priorities follow from that, so a missed goal in the table should show up in both.

Things to watch

The percentage is actual over target. For a goal where lower is better, like cost or returns, more than 100% is bad news. Flip the wording of those goals or explain them in highlights so the table is not misread.

Frequently asked questions

How is % of target calculated?

Actual divided by target, times 100, rounded to one decimal. A target of 5 and an actual of 6 shows 120.0%.

Is the average weighted?

No. It adds up the percentages and divides by the number of goals that have one. If some goals matter more than others, read the rows rather than the average.

How many sign-off boxes do I need?

Match your company's approval chain. A small team often uses one box for the manager. Larger companies add Reviewed by and Approved by. Pick None if approvals happen by email and you only need the body of the form.

Is what I type saved anywhere?

No. Everything stays in your browser and nothing is sent to our server. If you refresh the page it is gone, so print, save a PDF or download the DOCX when you are done.
