A thank-you note lands best the same day or the next morning. One email per interviewer, each naming something that person said. Keep it under 150 words; the generated text already is.

How to use it

Type the interviewer's name, the role and the interview date, then two things from the conversation as short phrases. The subject line is written for you as Thank you plus the role, and the body stays to three short paragraphs: thanks, the two points, and a closing line you pick. Copy the subject into your mail client and the rest into the body.

If you met several people, change the name and the two points for each one. Interviewers compare notes, so identical emails are noticed.

Things to watch

Do not add new arguments for hiring you or correct something you said in the interview; one sentence at most if you must. Check the spelling of the interviewer's name and the company before you send. If you have not heard back a week after the date they gave you, use the follow-up email template on this site.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no address or date?

This is written as an email, not a mailed letter. Copy the subject line into the subject box and the rest into the body of your email. If you need a printed letter, use the letter version of the same template.

Who do I send it to if I had a panel interview?

Each interviewer whose email you have, with their own name and one point from what they said. If you only have the recruiter's address, send one email and ask them to pass your thanks along.

Email or a handwritten card?

Email, because it arrives the same day and decisions are often made within a week. A card is a nice extra for a small company or a role where personal touch matters, but send the email first.

Is what I type saved anywhere?

No. Everything stays in your browser and nothing is sent to our server. If you refresh the page it is gone, so print, save a PDF or download the DOCX when you are done.
