Grades have to match the student's work

List only courses the student completed and the grades they earned. A transcript with made-up courses or grades can break state fraud and forgery laws, and using one to get federal student aid is a federal crime.

For homeschool and private records

Public schools issue their own transcripts through the registrar; this file is for families who homeschool or run a small private program. Colleges accept parent-issued transcripts, but check each school's admissions page for what else they want (course descriptions, test scores, a diploma).

This shows the first part of each sheet as it prints on Letter paper. The file also has a how-to sheet and formulas, and every column fits one page width when you print from Excel.

How to use it

Type the student and school names, pick whether a course is 1 credit or 0.5 by default, and download. The sheet has a header block, four year blocks for Grade 9 through 12 with eight course rows each, and a grading scale in yellow cells. For each course type the name, adjust the credits if needed and pick the letter grade from the dropdown. Grade points, credits per year, the yearly GPA and the cumulative GPA are formulas.

Below the year blocks there are rows for SAT, ACT and other test scores and a certification line to sign as the parent or administrator. Print to PDF for applications; most colleges want the transcript uploaded or mailed as a signed PDF.

Things to watch

Use the same scale for all four years and write it on the transcript, which the sheet does for you. If you weight honors or AP courses, say so in the course name and use a separate weighted scale, or colleges will recompute the GPA on their own terms anyway. Keep course descriptions in a separate document; the transcript lists titles only.

Frequently asked questions

How do I handle a pass/fail course?

Type the course and the credits and leave the grade empty. The credits count toward the year and the cumulative total, and the GPA ignores the course.

Can I use a weighted scale for honors or AP?

Change the yellow points in the scale table if every course on the transcript is weighted the same way. For a mix, keep the 4.0 scale for the GPA and mark honors and AP courses in the course name; admissions offices recompute weighted GPAs with their own rules.

Do I need more than eight courses in a year?

Insert rows inside the block, above the totals row, and copy the Grade points formula down. The SUM and SUMIFS ranges grow with the inserted rows.

Is what I type saved anywhere?

No. Everything stays in your browser and nothing is sent to our server. If you refresh the page it is gone, so print, save a PDF or download the DOCX when you are done.
