This shows the first part of each sheet as it prints on Letter paper. The file also has a how-to sheet and formulas, and every column fits one page width when you print from Excel.

How to use it

Pick the start week and how many weeks you want. The work log comes with every date and weekday already filled in, two lines per day. Write one task per line, type hours as a decimal (30 minutes is 0.5) and pick a status from the dropdown. The weekly summary sheet adds up hours, finished tasks and open tasks for each week.

The columns are kept short on purpose because this is a document you touch every day. Put a short note in the next step column and keep longer write-ups in a separate report.

Things to watch

The date column drives the summary formulas, so keep it as an Excel date and do not retype it as text. When you add rows, copy an existing one so the formatting and the status dropdown come along. In Google Sheets the formulas work as they are, but you may have to set the dropdown list again.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use it for a weekly status report?

Yes. The weekly summary sheet already has hours and the number of tasks done per week. Filter the work log by that week, copy the rows and paste them into the report.

What if I need more dates?

Choose 12 weeks, or copy the last date row, paste it below and change the date. Then raise the end row number in the summary formulas so the new rows are counted.

Can my team share one file?

Upload it to Google Drive and open it as a Google Sheet so several people can edit at once. You can also duplicate the work log sheet once per person.

Is what I type saved anywhere?

No. Everything stays in your browser and nothing is sent to our server. If you refresh the page it is gone, so print, save a PDF or download the DOCX when you are done.
