The border is off by default for pre-printed certificate paper. Turn it on when you print on plain paper. Printers shift the margins a little, so print one copy on plain paper and hold it against the certificate stock before the real run.

Certificate of Award
First Place
This certificate is presented to
Jordan Lee
Lakeview Middle School, Grade 7
in recognition of outstanding achievement at the 2026 Austin Regional Science Fair.
October 16, 2026
Date
Taylor Kim
Fair Director, Austin Regional Science Fair Committee
How to use it
Type the award name and the event, then pick the wording that fits: achievement, effort, creativity or teamwork. The award name prints large above the recipient, and the event name drops into the sentence. To change a word in the preset, copy the sentence from the preview into the box below the wording list and edit it there.
The certificate number is for your own records. If your school or club keeps a log, use the year and a running number. Otherwise leave it empty. For a group of winners, change the name and print one at a time.
Things to watch
Keep the wording under about two lines so the page stays balanced. The border is off by default for pre-printed certificate paper; turn it on for plain paper and check the preview page count stays at one.

Frequently asked questions
What goes in the award name?
The name of the award itself: First Place, Honorable Mention, Employee of the Month, Most Improved. Keep it to a few words so it fits on one line.
Can I give the same award to a team?
Yes. Put the team name in the recipient name box and the company or school in the box next to it. The teamwork wording reads well for groups.
Can I print this on certificate paper with a printed border?
Yes. Keep the border off and the text sits inside the usual frame. Paper designs differ, so test on plain paper first. If something sits too close to the edge, download the DOCX and nudge the margins in Word.
Is what I type saved anywhere?
No. Everything stays in your browser. When you need certificates for several people, change the name and print or download each one.
