    What to do next

    How it works

Choose an MP4 video and click Convert. The tool pulls out the audio and saves it as OGG (Vorbis). The video is not saved.

Pick Normal (about 128kbps) or High (about 192kbps). Several files convert one after another.

    Things to know

Safari and iPhones may not play OGG depending on the version. If the file has to play everywhere, MP3 is the safer choice.

    Frequently asked questions

    Where does OGG play?

Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Android and VLC open it, and it is widely used in games and web development. Safari and iPhones may not play OGG depending on the version, so for listening on an iPhone, MP3 is the safer choice.

    What happens to the video?

OGG stores only audio. The video is discarded and the audio is re-encoded as Vorbis. If the source audio is already Opus or Vorbis, it is copied without re-encoding.

Why does it take so long? Does it work on a phone?

The video is processed on your device, not on a server. When only the container changes, it takes a few seconds. When the video has to be re-encoded, it can take several times the length of the video depending on your hardware. It works on a phone but much more slowly, and it stops if the screen turns off or you switch apps. For long videos, use Chrome or Edge on a computer.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely in this browser, and the file never leaves your device. The only download is the conversion engine, once. The result disappears when you close the page, so use the save button to keep it.
