MP4 to WAV converter

Pull the audio out of a MP4 video and save it as WAV, entirely in your browser.

Drop MP4 files here or choose files.

    • Up to 500MB and 60 minutes per file
    • Up to 10 files at a time

Mono merges left and right into one channel and reduces the file size (WAV drops by half). Good for voice recordings.

You are unlikely to hear a difference either way. Pick 48kHz if the audio is going back into a video editor.

Leave blank to start from the beginning. Write 90 or 1:30.

Leave blank to go to the end. With several files, the same range is applied to each.

    What to do next

    How it works

Choose a MP4 file and click Convert. The tool pulls the audio out of the video and saves it as WAV. Upload several files and they convert one after another. Save the results one at a time or as a ZIP.

WAV is written as 16-bit PCM, which opens in any audio editor or DAW. Enter a start and end time to save only that part.

    Things to know

The browser decodes the audio itself, so if it does not recognize the codec inside the file, the conversion cannot run. The tool tells you why, and trying again in Chrome on a desktop usually works. If the video was recorded without audio, the tool tells you that too.

Long files use a lot of memory, so the limit is 60 minutes. If a large file stalls on a phone, try it on a computer.

    Frequently asked questions

Does it work with MP4 files downloaded from YouTube or sent in a chat app?

Yes, as long as the MP4 is saved on your device. There is no option to paste a link and download it. If the video is copyrighted, keep the audio for personal listening.

Does converting to WAV improve the quality?

No. If the source is compressed audio such as AAC or Opus, the detail lost in that compression does not come back. What WAV gives you is a file that does not degrade further, so you can edit and re-save it as many times as you like. Expect about 11MB per minute (48kHz stereo).

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Decoding and converting happen entirely in this browser, and the file never leaves your device. The result disappears when you close the page, so use the save button to download it.
