    How it works

    Choose an M4A file and click Convert to save it as MP4. By default the audio is moved into an MP4 container without re-encoding, so it finishes in seconds and the sound is unchanged.

    For sites that only accept video, such as YouTube, choose Black-screen video. The tool puts the audio over a 1280x720 black frame and saves it as MP4.

    What is the difference between audio-only MP4 and black-screen video?

    Audio-only MP4 keeps the sound untouched and only changes the container, so it finishes in seconds and the file size is about the same. YouTube and some social networks reject files with no picture, though. For those, choose the black-screen video, which puts the audio over a 1280x720 black frame. Because the picture never changes, the file grows only a little.

    Does it work with iPhone Voice Memos?

    Does the black-screen video take long?

    Because the picture never changes, it is much faster than a regular video. On a computer, 30 minutes of audio takes about 1 to 2 minutes, depending on the hardware. Phones are slower and stop when the screen turns off, so a computer is recommended.

    Are my files uploaded to a server?
