What to do next
How it works
The AVMA chart sets the first year at 15 human years and the second at 24, then adds 4 for every year after that. Between those points the calculator splits the difference by months. Past 16, where the chart ends, it keeps adding 4 a year.
Things to keep in mind
The life stages come from the 2021 AAHA/AAFP Feline Life Stage Guidelines, which say the age lines are approximate. These numbers are for curiosity and planning checkups, not a judgment about your cat's health.

Frequently asked questions
How old is my cat in human years?
The AVMA chart puts a 1-year-old cat at 15 human years and a 2-year-old at 24. After that each cat year adds about 4, so an 8-year-old cat is about 48.

How old is a 16-year-old cat in human years?
About 80 on the AVMA chart. A 20-year-old cat works out to about 96 if you keep adding 4 a year.
