Raffles are regulated by state

This is a general template, not legal advice. Most states allow raffles only for nonprofits, many require a permit or registration first, and a few ban them. Rules about ticket price, prize value and selling online differ too. Check your state's charitable gaming office before you print.

How to use it

Type the raffle name, who benefits, the prizes one per line, when and where the drawing is and the ticket price. Each ticket prints as one strip: the left half is what the buyer keeps, the right half is the stub with the same number and lines for a name and phone. Pick how many strips go on a page and set the first number; the numbers continue across pages when you raise the first number for the next sheet.

Print on card stock, cut the strips apart along the lines, and cut each strip between the ticket and the stub when you sell it. The stub goes in the drawing box; the buyer keeps the ticket to claim a prize.

Things to watch

Write down which number ranges each seller takes and reconcile cash against stubs before the drawing. Keep the stubs and the list after the drawing; many states require it for the permit report. For prizes worth $600 or more, the winner may need to give you a tax form, so collect the name and address on the stub.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the stub need a name and phone?

The stub goes in the drawing box, so the winner is found by the number on it. When the winner need not be present, the name and phone on the stub is how you reach them.

How many tickets fit on a page?

Three strips fit with three prize lines. Four or five fit when the prizes are one line. The preview shows the page break.

How do I print more than one page?

Print the first page, then raise the first number by the number of cards you printed and print again. The numbers continue where the last page left off.

Is what I type saved anywhere?

No. Everything stays in your browser and nothing is sent to our server. If you refresh the page it is gone, so print, save a PDF or download the DOCX when you are done.
