AAC to MP3 converter

Convert AAC audio to MP3 in your browser, with no upload.

Drop AAC files here or choose files.

    • Up to 500MB and 60 minutes per file
    • Up to 10 files at a time

192kbps is enough for music. Use 128kbps for lectures and call recordings, 320kbps for a music archive.

Mono merges left and right into one channel and reduces the file size (WAV drops by half). Good for voice recordings.

You are unlikely to hear a difference either way. Pick 48kHz if the audio is going back into a video editor.

Leave blank to start from the beginning. Write 90 or 1:30.

Leave blank to go to the end. With several files, the same range is applied to each.

    What to do next

    How it works

Choose a AAC file and click Convert. The tool saves it as MP3. Upload several files and they convert one after another. Save the results one at a time or as a ZIP.

Pick 128, 192 or 320kbps. For voice recordings, 128kbps in mono cuts the file size a lot. Enter a start and end time to save only that part.

    Things to know

The browser decodes the audio itself, so if it does not recognize the codec inside the file, the conversion cannot run. The tool tells you why, and trying again in Chrome on a desktop usually works.

Long files use a lot of memory, so the limit is 60 minutes. If a large file stalls on a phone, try it on a computer.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between AAC and M4A?

The audio compression is the same. An AAC file holds the raw audio stream, while an M4A wraps that stream in an MP4 container. This tool converts both.

Does converting to MP3 lower the quality?

MP3 is a lossy format, so the result is not identical to the source. At 192kbps or higher, most people cannot hear a difference. Since the source audio is usually compressed already (AAC, for example), a higher bitrate will not make it sound better than the original.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Decoding and converting happen entirely in this browser, and the file never leaves your device. The result disappears when you close the page, so use the save button to download it.
